Botswana Tour September 2006

During the recent September mid-term university break, 2 Way Travel took a group of 66 foreign students to Botswana and Zambia for 11 days. Here's some feedback from some of the Adventurers themselves:

"I just want to say that the trip was absolutely amazing in every way. Every morning when I woke up, even though it was early, I was excited to be alive. That is the best feeling anyone can have in my opinion. The cost was way cheaper than it should have been for all we did. The trip really did change my life!" Ben Smith, Sept 2006

"All the travel staff were amazing, especially the 2 Way leaders. My highlight was the early morning game walks in the Okavango delta. As a student I find everything too expensive but looking back, I realize this trip was way worth the price." John Croft, Sept 2006

Early Morning Group

"As a vegetarian, I found the meals to be very accommodating. My highlight was the Okavango Delta, which I loved!" Joanna Cling, Sept 2006

"I had actually never been camping before but I loved the trip and loved experiencing so many new things." Charlotte Drew, Sept 2006

Elephant Sunset

"Wow, where to start… what an amazing trip and unforgettable expedition! A buffet of awesome sunsets, awesome people, awesome food, awesome wildlife, awesome fun! Early mornings; elephants and hippos and buffalo and baboons and illusive lions and other wild animals and birds and plants; breathtaking sunsets; peanut butter and apple; "buddy check"; cold showers; delta guides with stories that will astound you; the elephant truck war cry: "How do you feel? I feel good! Oh I feel so good, Oh!"; campfire fun; stars; more stars; Graham's 'good morning' wake-up calls (occasionally including a guitar solo); delta mudpacks; card games and truck charades; more great sunsets; friendly (sometimes too friendly!) African people; voluntary near-death experiences (flinging oneself off a bridge counts as one of these, white river rafting as another); bartering with t-shirts and toothpaste in Zimbabwe; diverse 'safari' transport including overland trucks (complete with CD player, and occasionally in need of a group-bonding push start); mokoros on the Okavango Delta (some people didn't pass their drivers' test, but what a peaceful way of commuting…aah, the gentle swish of reeds…); sunset cruises (great way to get a close, but safe, distance to some amazing African wildlife); Landrover game drives; white river rafts on the Zambezi…

All these (and more) contributed to an extraordinary trip, but I think the highlight was the people! I haven't laughed so much and so hard in a long time. It was really rad to get away from city life and all the issues that bog one down. I really loved being able to take a step back and get 'back to basics' as it were, giving me an opportunity to reflect on what is really important in life, and it was also a great way to build relationships on a deeper level than under normal everyday circumstances… I felt the whole tour was incredibly well organized especially for such a big group. It was certainly an adventure that I'll treasure for the rest of my life!" Tanya Clemence, Sept 2006

Sunset Cruise

"I really enjoyed all the chats and fun times with whole group. I will never forget our trucks games of assassins and mafia! Your guys rock - viva Voortrekkers:! This trip is definitely the most economical and fun way to travel Africa - Mike is an organized and responsible leader whose first priority is that everyone has a good time!" Jacqui Boden, Sept 2006

Mike's USA road trip

Mike had a whirlwind trip to the United States from June 26th to July 15th 2006. He spent time in Washington DC, New York City, Indianapolis, Seattle, Reno & San Francisco, where he met with a number of different people. Exciting contacts have been made and 2 Way Travel will be working on developing service tours for a couple of these groups. If you are interested in knowing more about this trip, please contact .

Botswana/Zambia trip April 2006

During the April midterm break, we took two groups of American students totalling 48 people to Botswana and Zambia. We got to experience amazing wildlife, magical sunsets, lots of laughs and plenty of memories that will last a lifetime.

Here is some feedback from students who have done these past trips:

"While in South Africa on study abroad I traveled to many different places and was fortunate to see many things. One of my favorite trips, however, was my spring break trip to Botswana & Zambia. Although this was my first ever camping experience, and I was a little hesitant at first, I had an absolutely amazing time. From singing around the camp fire, seeing loads of elephants, sky diving, taking a mohkoro ride in the Okavango Delta to seeing Victoria Falls, it was an unforgettable trip. One of my favorite memories is seeing a lunar rainbow at Victoria Falls when we first arrived in Zambia. The booze cruise on our second to last night was also a blast. All in all it was an amazing trip, definitely a time I will never forget, with people who will stay in my heart forever. Lauren B - April 2006

"The trip to Botswana and Zambia is one I will never forget. There was never a dull moment which says a lot when you're travelling far distances to get everything in. Not only did our group have a great time with each other but the physical environment that surrounded us each day was unique and incredible. After spending three days in the Okavango Delta in Botswana I did not want to leave. In addition, seeing Victoria Falls in both Zambia and Zimbabwe was even more impressive than I had anticipated. This quality trip provides an economical and convenient way to travel through Southern Africa." Jess H - April 2006

The Peeler Family's community service holiday

The Peeler Family spent 8 days in Cape Town where they got to build a house with Habitat for Humanity, while taking in the beauty of Cape Town. On day one of the house build, all that could be seen was a barren concrete slab. However after 5 days of building, a brand new house with roof and tiles, internal walls and windows and a solid front door took shape. Mama Mdoyi was the proud new owner of this house and she was over joyed to move in with her extended family of orphans that she looks after. Thank you to the Peeler family for all they did while in SA, the legacy they left behind will touch many other lives in years to come.
